POSITION SUMMARY
The Technical Writer will be responsible for producing technical user documentation that aid in the development, use, and support of software systems. They will research, plan, write and illustrate documentation that explains complex software to technical and non-technical audiences. The Technical Writer’s job also includes providing input on information architecture for the group intranet site and assisting with site maintenance.
You will be part of a team of experts that is responsible for ensuring all aspects of documentation are met by:
• Analyze well written documents and coordinate requirements
• Coordinate design and writing of technical documentation
• Monitor all systems information products and communications
• Identify standards/documentation issues and recommend alternatives
• Prepares, maintains and publishes technical and end-user documentation in a concise, effective manner, including multiple file formats of online help, user manuals, training materials, release notes
• Ensures documentation meets existing format, content and style guidelines.
• Develops and implements document styles and standards as needed.
• Ensures that documentation continues to accurately reflect the needs of the intended public and current software usage
ESSENTIAL SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
• 3+ years experience in technical writing and editing in the software industry, with experience writing and formatting end user documentation.
• Excellent documentation skills with the ability to communicate clearly, concisely and with confidence both verbally and in writing.
• Strong writing, editing and communication skills as related to end-user documentation for complex, highly configurable software.
• Ability to maintain established standards and design for end-user documentation, and to create and establish documentation standards as required.
• Advanced understanding of online help authoring, word processing and presentation tools. Expert knowledge and experience with various software packages
• Knowledge and understanding of software development, software development lifecycles, software development tools, software quality assurance practices, business software and relational databases.
• Be highly motivated and have the ability to work to demanding project deadlines
