Seva Canada Society works to prevent blindness and restore sight in Tibet, India, Nepal, Tanzania, Guatemala, Egypt and Cambodia. Seva provides funding and expertise to community partners to deliver clinical eye care programs that reach the most vulnerable populations – women and children, the very poor and those living in rural areas.
JOB DESCRIPTION
In this role, you will be assisting the Director of Development in raising the profile and awareness of Seva Canada Society, its projects, events, and activities by developing and implementing effective communications strategies through print, web, social networking, and other media outlets.
The successful candidate will be an important part of our small team and report directly to the Director of Development. You have communications and public relations experience, excellent written communication skills, are a self-starter, work well with others and pay very close attention to detail.
EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE
- Two years post-secondary education in communications, journalism or related discipline. – Some experience in PR, media, writing, and print production or an equivalent combination of education & experience. – Some experience with various software including MS Office Suite, Publisher and Photoshop.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Demonstrated excellence in business and creative writing skills for print and web materials. – Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communications skills. – Understanding of graphic design. – Understanding of social networks like Facebook, Twitter, and blogs.
