Program Driver (Vancouver)

Thunderbird Neighbourhood Association is seeking an energetic and responsible driver/leader for various seniors out trips.
Responsibilities
• Perform all duties of a professional driver
• Basic maintenance of a 15 passenger van including pre-trip, post-trip, re-fuelling and light cleaning
• Lead and supervise a variety of out trip activities for seniors
• Ensure safety and security of program participants
• Deal effectively with challenging behaviour
• Provide a positive, supportive and inclusive environment for participants
• Maintain good communication with the Thunderbird staff and participants
• Manage a program budget
Qualifications
• Class 4 Driver’s License.
• Experience with supervision and program delivery to seniors.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative.
• Ability to effectively deal with group dynamics and behaviour.
• Ability to effectively use conflict resolution skills and make sound decisions.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience working with a multi-cultural and high risk community an asset.
• Experience in a community centre setting is an asset.
• First Aid / CPR Certification.
• A clear driver’s abstract is a requirement of this position.
• A Police Record Check clearance is a requirement of this position.
Term: Summer 2009 (July to August) with a possibility of extension
Hours of Work: approx. 8 hours per week; Tuesday/Thursday
Rate of Pay: $16.97/hr plus % in lieu of benefits
