The Youth At Work Skills Link Program Lead Facilitator is responsible for the on-going development and overall supervision of program activities. Candidate should have knowledge of Skills Link Programs and experience working with Service Canada funded projects.
Youth At Work is a Skills Link program offering life/employability skills and mentorship training in the Hospitality/Hotel Industry to youth at risk aged 15-30 with multiple-barriers to employment.
Position: Youth At Work Lead Facilitator
Hours: 35 hours/week
Wage: $21.59 / hour
Contract Term: July 2, 2009 to March 31, 2010, possibility of contract renewal
Responsibilities include:
• Coordinate and supervise daily activities of the Youth At Work program which will include two days per week life/employability skills work shops and three days of work placements at Host Employer locations
• Plan and implement life/employability skills workshops with Project Program Facilitator
• Responsible for the distribution of youth stipend pay cheques, youth participant/employer scheduling, month -end reports, youth progress update evaluation form and other administrative duties
• Coordinate project curriculum ie. Life/employability skills workshops, field trips, guest speakers and youth placements
• Recruit 12 youth at risk with multiple barriers to employment every 3 months to participate in Skills Link Program under Service Canada requirements
• Plan, collaborate and deliver a portion of the life/employability skills workshops with the Program Facilitator
• Supervision of Program Facilitator, Program Assistant and youth participants and provide weekly updates to the Youth Employment Services Coordinator
• Responsible for monitoring youth progress with youth participants and Host Employers
• Responsible for supporting youth on a one to one setting and/or in a group environment
• Encouraging youth to become accountable, responsible individuals
• Work as part of a team to provide pre-employment and job search skills to youth to assist them in their employment goals
• Administrative duties: ie purchasing office supplies and equipment, marketing, and other related duties as required
• All duties and tasks associated with launching and maintaining the Youth At Work Skills Link Program
Qualifications:
• Experience in the non profit field, particularly working with youth in employment related services
• Post secondary education, degree or diploma in social sciences, career development, employment counseling or relevant social services background
• Experience in marketing, communications, sales and business relations in the Hospitality/Hotel Industry
• Experience in life/employability skills workshops
• Proven ability to build relationships with businesses, service providers, community members and funding partners
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Experience and comfort working with businesses, service providers and youth in a culturally diverse environment
• 1-3 years experience supervising, managing and motivating staff
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to effectively perform administrative tasks
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
• 2-4 years experience working with multi-barried youth between the ages of 15-30 years
• Previous proposal writing experience would be an asset
• Excellent computer and internet skills
• Knowledge of Skills Link Programs and experience working in Service Canada funded programs
