Overview
The Richmond Oval, host of Long Track Speed Skating at the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, is a dynamic, world-class venue that enriches quality of life through sport and wellness. Beyond the Olympics, this 363,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art facility will offer a variety of sport and community activities and programs. The Oval is currently seeking to employ, on a permanent basis, a Coordinator of Sport Services and Programs, to realize its vision for community sports programming.
Do you have your NCCP Certification for team sports & the experience to develop sport leagues & programs?
As a dedicated and hands-on sports enthusiast, you will develop sport programs, leagues and tournaments for the Richmond Olympic Oval, that support community needs and optimize the Oval’s facilities. Specifically, you will:
• Research potential sport program concepts including sport leagues and drop-in programs, present them to the management team and develop the strategy for implementation.
• Provide input into the marketing strategy and visit schools, sport organizations, community groups and program partners to create awareness of the programming offered at the Oval.
• Monitor and assess program performance, ensure that internal team members have the necessary information to ensure smooth running of the programs; and provide a high level of customer service to ensure a positive experience.
• Evaluate and recruit instructors, attendants and officials and will be responsible for the purchase and maintenance of equipment.
We are looking for candidates who have:
? 3 to 5 years of experience in developing, participating in and running team sport programs, leagues and tournaments and who know how to plan and implement these
? A degree in Human Kinetics or Sport Management or other related post-secondary education is an asset
? A long-term interest and participation in high level team sport (university level or higher) – as a coach or programmer
? NCCP Certification in team sports like volleyball, soccer, hockey or basketball
• A demonstrated ability to work with a diverse client base?
• Strong presentation and communication skills, written and verbal?
