Fit Foods is seeking a full-time Line Leader. The incumbent is responsible to oversee operation of a production line to ensure production is run in a cost efficient and effective manner. The position of Line Leader is to ensure that the line is set up properly, and that production is running smoothly. The Line Leader may be required to assist line operations directly to accommodate employees on breaks. This position reports directly to the Production Supervisor and/or Assistant Plant Manager.
Responsibilities:
• Day to day running of a production line to maintain the flow of product, while following and maintaining the required documentation, product quality, and quantity of work
• To be expert in all technical and operational aspects of the designated line(s)
• Follow all QC protocols and direction from QC staff pertaining to raw material packaging and finished product quality standards
• Ensure accuracy of all production data including; dates, labels, and packaging
• Implement ideas and take action to continuously improve productivity and efficiencies. Identify and implement opportunities to reduce costs
• Carry out a timely and effective line handover between shifts to include a progress/issues report
• Ensure timely availability of raw materials/packaging to meet the production plan
• Monitor production activities against paperwork. Communicate progress within the team and to management taking corrective actions (including in the event of unplanned downtime), escalating issues as appropriate, and promptly in order to deliver the goals and to achieve targets. Ensure production data is accurately recorded
• Effective running of all relevant equipment, & reporting any equipment defects to the appropriate supervisor
• Completion of daily records; downtime, yield, packaging, waste, etc.
• Ensure product being packed to highest quality and as per customer spec
• Monitor and maintain high standards of housekeeping
• Daily supervision of operation in assigned production room to monitor performance to metrics, manage resources, and prioritize to achieve targets
• Assessment of operators on the line and assisting in training as required on proper production SOP’s, GMP’s, equipment, and ensure all Health and Safety Standards are met
• Manage and motivate the team by giving individual feedback ( positive and constructive), coaching and encouraging people to achieve results that meet targets and objectives and support “right first time”
• Assist in the development and transfer of new processes
• Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
• Minimum 2-3 years prior experience in supervising a team of production staff preferably in a Food Manufacturing environment
• Some formal training in supervision or leadership preferred to establish and maintain a positive work environment
• Experience running a automated production line operations with 5-15 people in a fast paced environment under strict deadlines. Work requires evenings and some weekend work on short notice
• Superior knowledge of the company processes, policies, and procedures in order to train and supervise others, for the required paperwork, and the necessary process for approvals. With the use of a calculator perform basic math calculations.
• GMP or similar regulatory experience preferred
• Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills; the job involves talking to others to convey information clearly and effectively, and to lead and motivate others
• Must have ability to troubleshoot production line, and machinery, tools, equipment issues, & must have demonstrated creative problem solving abilities
• Must be able to speak, read, and write routine reports clearly so that others understand
