One of its divisions, Mapcon Mapping, is an industry leader in supplying geospatial products and services to industry and all levels of government. Mapcon Mapping’s office located in Burnaby, BC is currently looking for a part time (20 hrs/week) Market Researcher who will be responsible for researching the market for mapping opportunities within USA and Canada. There may be other projects and duties as assigned by the Sales & Marketing Manager.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
* Identifies potential business opportunities * Researches the internet and other sources to locate companies, industries, governments, etc. involved in the Geomatics field and/or those that could potentially make use of the Company’s mapping services * Calls potential customers to perform a needs analysis and promote the Company’s services accordingly * Recommends leads to be followed up by a salesperson * Maintains database and prepares reports/updates as necessary * Keeps informed of Company services so as to be better able to discuss them with potential customersQUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS/COMPETENCIES
Education: 2 year College diploma or equivalent, with a focus on marketing; broad knowledge of the Geomatics field
Experience: Prior related experience, especially in cold calling, is preferable; however, training will be provided
Skills: Excellent research skills; professional phone manner and interpersonal skills; excellent drive and desire to detect new business; strong skills in needs analysis and in explaining the benefits of products and services to a potential customer; proficiency with databases and/or spreadsheets
