Trainer – 911 Operation Communications Centre (RCMP)

Under the general supervision of the OCC Manager or his/her delegate, the incumbent performs responsible communications and training work within the Surrey RCMP Operation Communications Centre.

Typical duties performed by the successful incumbent include:

• Planning, designing, conducting and supervising classroom training sessions for OCC and Switchboard staff.
• Coordinating the scheduling of qualification testing for all positions.
• Establishes and maintains all related records, files and training materials.
• Assists with the creation of a yearly course calendar for training at the Detachment.
• Receiving input from Supervisors on the performance of Communications Operators to identify refresher training needs and readiness for further training and promotions.
• Providing on-the-job training in radio dispatch to Communications Operators.
• Assisting in the development of work methods, standards, procedures and manuals.
• Acting as a resource person to Communications Operators on procedures and operations.
• Liaises between Communications Operators and Centre Management on operational problems and concerns.
• Performing the duties of a Telecom Operator 2/Switchboard Operator & other job related duties as required.

The successful candidate will have completed Grade 12, supplemented by courses in effective training and supervision plus five years of relevant experience in Training and as a Telecom Operator 2, with a demonstrated high level of competency in all areas of an Operation Communications Center. An accurate typing speed of 45 WPM and the relevant level of an RCMP security clearance are required. Testing will be administered to determine typing speed.
